TARYN BORGES

Lead Guide, United States & International
Customer Service Manager

Taryn joined the K2 Team in 2019 as Customer Service Manager for K2 Adventure Travel and guided her first team to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2021. Originally from Austin, TX, she moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2010 and immediately fell in love with the geography of the area.

An experienced hiker, backpacker and avid skier, Taryn can be found exploring the Cascade Range year-round. She has had numerous alpine ascents throughout Oregon and Washington and some favorites include standing on the summit of Mt. St. Helen's, hiking to Sahale Glacier and backpacking through the Enchantments. During the winter, she enjoys resort and backcountry skiing on Mt. Hood. Her passion for travel and learning new skills continuously motivates her to explore places around the world, and she loves sharing these experiences with others.

Taryn graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Chemical Engineering. She is a certified NOLS Wilderness First Responder, is certified in both CPR and First Aid and is trained in Avalanche Awareness and Rescue. She currently lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and young son.


TYLER BROTZ

Assistant Guide, United States & International
K2 Global Initiatives Ambassador

Tyler is originally from Wisconsin, but currently lives in Arizona. He is an avid traveler, climber and big mountain skier with a history of being in the mountains from a young age. He has 3 successful summits of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, with his first summit at the age of 14.  He has also guided into the ruins of Machu Picchu and on Mt Humphreys, as well as across the Grand Canyon, guiding Rim to Rim multiple times. When he’s not climbing up mountains, he’s likely skiing down them having been on skis since the age of 5.

Tyler works for K2 Adventure Travel as the Global Initiatives Ambassador. Tyler is a graduate from the University of Arizona and holds certifications in both CPR and First Aid.


ADAM CHRISTIE

Lead Guide, United States & International

Adam has traveled to more than 40 countries around the world and his passport can prove it. Climbing is a huge passion for the New York native who currently lives in Arizona and works for Edward Jones.

Adam’s climbing resume includes Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mount Rainier in Washington State, and Mount Aconcagua in Argentina just to name a few. Not surprisingly, he’s in peak condition. Adam is a NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) Wilderness First Responder as well as trained in CPR and First Aid.


CALEB KOLB

Lead Guide, United States & International

Caleb is passionate about encouraging people through challenges and adventures. He enjoys hiking the Appalachian Trail, white water kayaking, rock climbing and biking The Greater Allegheny Passage, as well as camping, exploring the great outdoors and sitting by the campfire. Caleb has hiked the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim and summited Mount Kilimanjaro twice, marrying his wife Sarah at Camp Karanga!

Although Caleb enjoyed many years in Nebraska where he wrestled for the university, he is a Pennsylvanian native, head wrestling coach and runs a nonprofit called Adventures in Training with a Purpose (ATP). ATP helps those most in need to live a quality life through purposeful performance training and adventure, which allows K2 Adventure Travel to partner similarly. Caleb is a certified NOLS Wilderness First Responder and is also certified in Psychological First Aid.


SARAH KOLB

Lead Guide, United States & International

Sarah is passionate in leading and encouraging others through movement and providing hope through adventure. A life-long athlete, avid traveler and adventurer, you'll often find Sarah biking The Greater Allegheny Passage, white water kayaking, hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing. Sarah has also hiked the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim and summited Mount Kilimanjaro twice, even getting married at Camp Karanga!

 

Sarah is a Pittsburgh native and runs a nonprofit called Adventures in Training with a Purpose (ATP) with her husband, Caleb Kolb. ATP helps those most in need to live a quality life through purposeful performance training and adventure, which allows K2 Adventure Travel to partner similarly. Together, they lead people through the imperfect beauty of adventure, empowering individuals to become the best version of themselves. Sarah is a certified NOLS Wilderness First Responder and is also certified in Psychological First Aid.


TERI NISSER

K2 Global Initiatives Ambassador

Teri joined the K2 team in 2017. She hiked Rim-to-Rim and did her first Kilimanjaro summit in 2020. Teri completed her second Kilimanjaro summit in July 2021. She has many roles in the K2 team serving as the Global Ambassador for K2 Global Initiatives, the secretary for the K2 Adventures Foundation Board of Directors since 2019 and is a member of the K2 Beyond team.

Teri and her family have lived across the US and abroad. Teri and her husband, Dan, partnered with a former school where she taught to launch a service program in Zimbabwe. While living in Switzerland, she acquired a love for hiking. Combining her love of service and hiking drives her ambition at K2.

Teri graduated from Iowa State University with a B.A. in English Secondary Education. Teri has taught at the junior high and high school levels throughout their moves and has developed an international network while living abroad in Germany and Switzerland.


TOMMY TOGNOLI

Lead Guide, United States & International

Tommy Tognoli is a California native whose excitement for sharing the things he loves is unmatched. Having traveled to more than 20 countries in the last 3 years has provided him with a great understanding of how to navigate unfamiliar places. When Tommy is not selling real estate in California, he is trying to find a new mountain to climb or snowboard, valley to backpack into or break to surf.

Tommy got involved with K2 Adventure Travel as a client when he signed up for the 25.5 mile Rim-to-Rim hike in the Grand Canyon. He became a guide after that trip and led his first team to Peru in 2021. He is certified in CPR, first aid, avalanche safety level 1 and avalanche rescue.


JOSH UNDERWOOD

Lead Guide, United States & International

Josh is a native of Arizona, but has enjoyed a lifetime of travel & adventure opportunities that have inspired him to keep wanting more.  His climbing resume includes a successful summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mount Everest Base Camp in the Himalayas, a successful summit of Mount Rainier in Washington State, and numerous Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim and Rim-Rim-Rim hikes, to name some of his favorites. Josh is thankful for each opportunity that comes his way, but is always looking for his next challenge. Josh is a NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) Wilderness First Responder as well as trained in CPR and First Aid.

Josh has worked in residential real estate for over 17 years and is the co-owner of the 2nd Mile Group, a Phoenix based real estate team. He lives in Gilbert, AZ with his amazing wife Shelby.


CRAIG VAN HOY

Lead Guide, United States & International

Craig is located in the United States but travels all over the world. Craig’s been guiding for over 34 years and has completed all seven summits, led more than 50 expeditions to the volcanoes in Mexico and more than 400 summits on Mt. Rainier, to name just a few. Kevin met Craig in 1996 when they climbed Mt. Adams together and they are still great friends and fellow guides.


KELLY WESKE

Lead Guide, United States & International

Kelly lives in Wisconsin but loves traveling to Tanzania. She’s been a Certified Group Fitness Trainer for more than 25 years, a Certified Spinning and Yoga Instructor, an Ironman finisher and has been to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro several times.

Kelly, and K2 co-founder Kristen, met when they taught middle school together in Wisconsin. They’ve been friends and have worked together for more than 20 years. Kelly is an Emergency Medical Responder as well as trained in CPR and First Aid.
